Honor 9i handset was first launched in October 2017 and till now the company is rolling out the regular software updates for this device. Now the manufacturer has started to push new software update which brings the January 2019 latest android security patch for this handset. The update is now available for Indian units and many users have installed this firmware on their device.

This security update carries new build number version RNE-L22 8.0.0.335(C675). The update also doesn’t weigh too big, it’s just 120 MB so you can use either WiFi or mobile data for download. Apart from the security update, it may also perform some hidden tasks like bug fixes and system stability enhancement. As usual they were rolling out this software update via OTA and it will be available in phases.

At launch Honor 9i was pre-installed with android nougat os, later they were updated this device to android oreo (EMUI 8.0) version. Huawei confirms this handset is eligible to receive Android 9 Pie upgrade, but they didn’t reveal the exact timeframe. The report suggests Huawei will release the android pie update for honor 9i in Q3 2019 which is very lengthy.
