Huawei has released a new software update for its mid-range smartphone Mate 10 Lite. This update brings most awaited Face Unlock feature for this handset. Additionally it also adds Lens AR effects to front camera and installs the February 1 2018 android security patch. It will not make any change in EMUI version which remains at 5.1.

This software update will replace the older build number L21C185B131CUSTC185D001 with new one RNE-L21C185B142CUSTC185D001. Huawei is currently rolling out this firmware update via OTA, which weighs in large 742 MB. They recommend Mate 10 Lite owners to use wifi connection to download this update file.

Also advices the users to keep the battery level above 50 percent and backup important data to removable storage. The OTA roll out will take some time to reach all regions. Once you’ve installed this update, you can scan and store your face id by pressing the power button.

Recently Huawei had released this update for Maimang 6 chinese version. The following handsets will also receive this face unlock update in the upcoming days - Nova 2i, Honor 9i and G10. These are the rebranded version of Maimang 6 and the model names will vary by country-wise.
