OnePlus has finally started to push android 8.1 oreo beta update for OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphone users. OnePlus has officially confirmed this firmware roll out by a thread on their forums. This beta build will arrive as Oxygen OS Open Beta 6 (for OP 5) and Open Beta 4 (OP 5T). They’ve also published the full release notes on their OnePlus forums.

The download size for Open Beta 4 for OnePlus 5T weighs in 1667 MB (1.67 GB). The weigh of Open Beta 6 for OnePlus 5 will be in 1647 MB (1.64 GB).

Here is the list of changes that have been included with in the latest beta update:

  -  It will update the Android version to 8.1

  -  Gaming Mode – It adds new gaming mode and optimizes the battery usage & adaptive brightness for faster game play experience

  -  OnePlus Switch – Now you can migrate the application data and also allow you to toggle between handsets

  -  Phone – Brings new auto pick up gesture for calls i.e. you can now answer the incoming call by simply raising the phone

System Related enhancements:

• It will add new clock styles to ambient display

• Android security patch of this device will be updated to February 2018

• Full screen gesture optimization

• General bug fixes and improvements

Except the full screen gesture update (not for OnePlus 5), other changes are common for both handsets. OnePlus has also added the custom ROM for OnePlus 5 and 5T devices on their forum. If you are an existing beta member, you can download this update as OTA by tapping the System update from settings menu.

New users can also join in the beta program, for that you need to download the custom OTA ROM and flash it on your device. The beta build many not be stable, so if you face any issues within this update you can share it on feedback forums.
