Good news, OnePlus is now seeding Android 8.1 Oreo stable update for OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones. Both handsets will receive this oreo 8.1 software update as Oxygen OS 5.1.0. Few days back, OnePlus has tested the open beta version of this firmware update with their beta testers. Now they’ve made this update as stable and rolling out for everyone (including non-beta members).

Along with this os update, the firmware also carries latest security patch i.e. April 2018 for these handsets. OnePlus has posted the changelog of this update on their official forums. For your reference, we have listed the release notes below.

System

 - It will bump the android version to 8.1 and Oxygen OS version to 5.1.0

 - It will install the April 2018 android security patch

 - It adds new full-screen gesture support (for oneplus 5t only)

Gaming Mode

 - New power saving mode and pause option for adaptive brightness

 - New network boost option for foreground gaming app

Launcher

 - In the app drawer search section they‘ve added new category tags

 - It will automatically name the folders by category-wise

Apart from these changes this update may also rectify the bugs and improves the performance. This major software update weighs in 766 MB and will be available for download via OTA. The company has already initiated this OTA roll out and will take some time to reach all devices. If you own OnePlus 5 and 5T and didn’t received the automatic OTA update, then initiate it manually from Settings > System updates > Check for update.
