Back in January 2018, Samsung has ended the android oreo beta program for Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices. After hearing this news Galaxy S8/S8+ fans got excited and expected the stable update will arrive in January, but it didn’t. Finally Samsung has started to roll out the Android 8.0 Oreo stable version for Galaxy S8 and S8+ handsets.
Right now the firmware update is available for the following regions U.S, India, Germany and Brazil. It will not end-up with this region they will expand it to other regions in the upcoming days. This software update will bump the android and Samsung Experience versions of galaxy s8 and s8 plus to 8.0.0 and 9.0. It also brings new baseband versions - G950FXXU1CRAP for Galaxy S8 and G955FXXU1CRAP for Galaxy S8 Plus.
The update weigh for both handsets will be in 487.04 MB. It also carries the latest security patch i.e. February month for these handsets. As usual, the software update will be rolled out through OTA in stages. The OTA screenshot has also revealed the full changelog of oreo update for S8 and S8+ mobiles. Along with standard oreo features, Samsung has done many enhancements on their pre-installed apps.
Samsung has made improvements in the following features – Biometrics, Quick Panel, Home Screen, Samsung Keyboard, Edge Screen, Samsung Account, Smart View, Lock screen & Always On Display, System Performance, Samsung Cloud, Dual Messenger, Find My Mobile, Samsung DeX and more are there.
Because of phase roll out the software update will take time to reach all handsets. To receive the OTA update you must connect your handset to Wifi network or mobile data. Also maintain the battery level above 50 percent or plug the charger to your device, to avoid battery drain during installation. You can also check for the update manually from Settings menu. Suppose if the firmware update is available in your region, then down the OTA file and proceed to installation process.
