Samsung’s flagship mobiles Galaxy S8 and S8+ are currently receiving December month security patch. This update is now available for download in the following regions - South Korea and U.S. In USA the update is rolling out for T-Mobile versions of Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. The carrier has also updated this information at the support page.
The t-mobile powered units will receive this security patch with the following build numbers – G950USQS2BQL1 (130.66 MB size) and G955USQS2BQL1 (127.11 MB size). The South Korean variants will get this update as G950NKSU1AQL3 and G955NKSU1AQL3.
On the other side, Samsung seeding this same December patch for two years old Galaxy Note 5 handset. The new build number for Galaxy Note 5 will arrive as N920GUBU3CQG4. The report confirms that this security patch is now live in several countries including India. The update for Note 5 weighs in small 17.04 MB.
Mostly the security update will fix the security issues that are spotted in Android and Samsung OS. Further the firmware will also enhance the system stability and performance of the handset. As usual, the company will send out this security software update via OTA. Depends on region and network, the OTA firmware will reach your handset. You can also check whether the software update is available for your device or not from Settings menu.
