Today Xiaomi has added a new budget level smartphone in its Redmi series and named as Redmi S2. Currently they’ve announced this handset in Chinese region and didn’t give any tip about global roll out. Followed by launch, the Redmi S2 handset goes for preorder in China via Mi online store. The listing has revealed the selling price of this device in China as 999 yuan / 10,560 INR (3GB) and 1299 yuan / 13,735 INR (4GB). From May 17 onwards this handset will go for sale in Chinese market. It may be first budget smartphone in industry that include A.I assisted camera for this price range.

Let’s discuss about the specifications of this newly arrived handset. The redmi s2 comes with 5.99-inch FHD+ Full Screen display, 18:9 screen ratio and dual sim card slot. It will be pre-installed with Android 8.1 oreo os and uses custom MIUI 9. Like Redmi Note 4 and Note 5, it also equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset and 2GHz octa core processor. It will be available in two variants 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB. Both models have dedicated slot for microSD card, so you don’t want to sacrifice the second sim slot to use SD card.

Moving to back, it sports dual main camera lens 12MP + 5MP which includes PDAF Focus, AI Portrait Mode, F2.2 Aperture, 1080p video recording and more. To focus selfie users, they’ve installed 16MP front camera and also support AI smart beauty mode for enhanced selfies. Other features are fingerprint, face unlock, Wifi, Bluetooth 4.2, 4G LTE and still more are there.

Coming to battery, it packed with 3080 mAh non-removable battery which compatible with 5V/2A fast charging technology. It will be available in three optional colors Gold, Rose Gold and Silver.
