Foldable smartphones are the latest trend in the Smartphone world. With giant manufacturers competing to dominate the market with their maiden launch of their flagship Foldable smartphones, here's some interesting news. Both the Huawei Mate X Foldable as well as Samsung Galaxy Fold drew quite a lot of public attention at Mobile World Congress earlier this year. 

However, their actual launches were delayed for the obvious reason that the companies had to polish the technology. Anyone would want the shiny and fancy new smartphone design and they can't take the risk of recalling once it's launched globally. Samsung went ahead with the launch of the Galaxy Fold in select countries. The Huawei Mate X Foldable Smartphone, the biggest rival, is set to be launch very soon.

The latest news is that Huawei plans to launch its Mate X in China on November 15. The foldable smartphone is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC (paired with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage). In addition, to the Balong 5000 5G modem, the smartphone will feature an 8-inch foldable display with a 2480x2200 resolution and a 9:8 aspect ratio. Besides, the device will cost ¥16,999 (roughly $2074 in the US).

We don't know for sure when Huawei’s Mate X will arrive globally (if at all) and what kind of software will it have pre-installed. Considering how expensive the smartphone is, selling it potentially without applications from Google and other US-based vendors may not attract a lot of interest in non-Chinese markets. 

While Samsung has taken the first step with the launch of Galaxy Fold back in September 6, Huawei is set to follow suit and there definitely is going to be a stiff competition between the two.
