Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s plus mobile unveiled

Today at a live event Xiaomi has unveiled two new flagship smartphones in Mi Series – Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus. It can also be said as successor of Mi 5 mobile which was released in March 2016. Both smartphone are equipped with latest version of Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset. Talking about designs both are having metal body with 2.5D curved glass for front side. The company has also revealed the price and availability of these smartphone at launch event.

Xiaomi Mi 5S:

The mi 5s sports 5.15-inch 1080p display and pressure sensitive display technology (for 128GB model). It runs on android 6.0 marshmallow os, new qualcomm snapdragon 821 chipset and 2.15 GHz quad core processor. It comes in two variants – 3GB RAM + 64GB storage and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage.

It has 12MP ultra-sensitive back camera with Sony IMX378 sensor, PDAF sensor, 4K video recording, dual color flash and more features. The front camera is 4MP which also loaded with more exciting features. It includes ultrasonic fingerprint sensor with payment enabled, NFC, 4G LTE with 3CA, dual nano sim slot, wifi (dual band), bluetooth 4.2, Type-C USB, Infrared sensor and more connectivity options. It preloaded with 3200 mAh battery which supports quick charge 3.0 technology.

The price of 3GB + 128 GB in China is 1999 yuan (Rs. 19,920) where the 4GB + 128GB will launch for 2299 yuan (Rs. 22,910).

Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus:

The upgraded model mi 5s plus handset has 5.7-inch wider display with 1080p resolution. This phablet doesn’t support pressure sensitivity technology. It also has android 6.0 marshmallow os, qualcomm snapdragon 821 chipset and quad core processor upgraded clock speed 2.35 GHz. It will launch in two models Standard edition and High edition. The standard model houses 4GB RAM and 64GB storage while the high-end version houses 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

It has dual lens back camera 13MP (color) + 13MP (black & white) with 4K video recording, PDAF sensor and more camera features. The front/selfie camera megapixel is same like Mi 5s - 4MP. It also features fingerprint sensor (placed at back), NFC, 4G LTE with 3CA, infrared sensor, wifi (dual band), bluetooth 4.2 and more. The plus model battery upgraded to 3800 mAh which also feature Qualcomm quick charging (3.0) technology.

The mi 5s plus 4GB and 6GB variants will release in China for 2299 yuan (Rs.22,910) and 2599 yuan (Rs.25,900).

Both models will be available in grey, gold, rose gold and silver colors. The mi 5s and mi 5s plus mobiles are already up for preorder in China retailers. These handsets will grab for its first sale in China on September 29.
